Why give? At the end of my first session as your State Delegate, I am proud and humbled to announce that the Economic Action Maryland Fund named me Legislator of the Year (2026) for protecting individuals from housing discrimination amid weakening federal housing regulations. The Maryland Retailers Alliance has recognized me as a Rising Star Legislator for two years. I received a Lifetime Achievement Award from CAIR (now Amica Center for Immigrants) for my work advocating for immigrants (September 2023) and was the second proposer for Access to Care, which successfully passed in the 2024 legislative session! See what else I did:

• Ensured that ICE detained immigrants residing in this state receive over $23 million in free universal representation if they are unable to afford their own lawyer.

• Fulfilled a goal to have the Purple Line built before the end of my first term as Delegate. It is currently in testing and will officially open in December 2027.

• Provided small businesses along the Purple Line with over $10 million in financial assistance so they could remain open throughout my elected service. This is the first transportation project in the state's history to receive this kind of assistance, and I started this grant process while at the county and continued it as Delegate.

• Passed/Implemented a majority of our bills proposed and co-sponsored.

• Invested $13 million to get our addicted juveniles off substance abuse.

• Presented the Dream Big College Prep workshop annually to hundreds of high school seniors in my district.

• Opened 3 new schools out of the promised 9 - so that we now have 3 new open schools, 3 schools in the design phase, 1 new school for groundbreaking, and 2 schools that are to be combined in the final permit phase.

• Named in a Trump Administration press release for my role in successfully proposing the state's first Sanctuary County policy.

• Hosted the first by-standard training in the region and assisted with other jurisdictions doing the same.

• Joined forces with local business owners to give away 1,000 chickens during the Thanksgiving holidays. Ensured every school, municipality, senior home, civic association, and community center in District 47B/District 2 received its share.

• Spearheaded the state’s passage of Baby Food Poisoning legislation called Rudy’s Law and helped other states do the same. This made national news.

But there's still more work to do. Now, more than ever.

Individuals, associations, corporations and partnerships may contribute tup to $6,000 to Friends of Deni Taveras during the four-year election cycle and may contribute up to $24,000 in the aggregate to all candidates for Maryland State and local office during this four-year election cycle.  Contributions to political campaigns are not tax deductible. Contributions must be from the donor’s own funds and may not be reimbursed by any other person.
